GoodSync Enterprise Server Edition
GoodSync Enterprise Server is a powerful enterprise-wide data protection tool.
GoodSync requires an Enterprise Server license to operate on Windows Servers 2000/2003/2008. GoodSync Enterprise Server Edition can help protect your company's data in many ways, including:
- Synchronization or backup of large collections of files between multiple servers or network storages.
- Synchronization or backup services for remote users connected to the server using a Citrix-type environment or Remote Desktop Connection.
- Synchronization or backup of locked server files such as database files or email storages.
Synchronization and/or Backup of Multiple Servers
The most popular and the most robust use of GoodSync Enterprise is in the Star topology when GoodSync Enterprise is installed on user workstations and configured by a system administrator through command-line parameters (via login script) to back up to one of the central file servers. With this setup, each workstation performs frequent incremental updates to the server throughout the day.
Best practices dictate that companies maintain multiple backup copies of user data in geographically remote locations. If your company has multiple offices, an ideal scenario would be to regularly synchronize all workstations in each office to a local file server using GoodSync Enterprise. Then, periodically synchronize these servers to each other using GoodSync Enterprise Server.

If there is only one office, the best practices dictate that you regularly back up all workstations in the office to a local file server, which cab be accomplished using GoodSync Enterprise. For greater data protection, you may also consider purchasing disk space, or renting a server from an IT service provider and periodically synchronizing your file server to the remote server through our SFTP option or WebDAV over SSL connection.

Larger corporations may have a need to keep multiple servers in sync for ultimate data replication. GoodSync Enterprise Server can easily handle this requirement through its ability to handle chained synchronizations.
Sync/Backup of Remote Users Logged to the Server
A number of large organizations are moving away from issuing their employees fully-functional workstations and moving towards using "dumb terminals" that only allow users to login to servers using a Citrix-type environment or Remote Desktop Connection. In this type of setup, a single GoodSync Enterprise Server license will backup or synchronize all the user data stored on these servers. The price of the GoodSync Enterprise Server License equals to the price of approximately 25 workstation (GoodSync Enterprise) licenses but can be used to synchronize up to 75 users on a Citrix server environment.

Sync/Backup of Centralized Storages
GoodSync is capable of backing up locked files using the Shadow Copy technology. This technology allows GoodSync to backup database data and transaction files, email storage files, as well as any other files that are constantly locked and updated. This feature is widely used by our existing clients to back up their server-side databases and email storages.
